I Beat One of Divinity’s Hardest Bosses by Stacking Chairs

The bosses in Divinity: Original Sin 1 don’t mess around. Especially on Tactitian, they are uniquely challenging, and usually a host of other enemies helping them. Divinity’s second act zone, Luculla Forest, has a particularly hard final boss, the Immaculate Mangoth. You’ll run into Mangoth at the end of the “Infiltrating the Immaculates” main quest, and you’ll be rewarded with a vial of Leandra’s blood, an essential component for the Death Knight spell.
I won’t be writing a full guide on this fight, and I have complete faith in you that you can get through this one, but I do have a very cunning and effective way to tip the odds in your favor. This will give you a huge amount of battlefield control by stonewalling the majority of the enemies summoned to help him (they aren’t technically “summons,” though, as far as the mechanics are concerned). All credit goes to my partner, Jaye, for this ingenious idea after we failed the fight two times.
Before you enter the central room, and after clicking the four switches that open the door, give it a good save. Around the larger room, you’ll see a bunch of red padded chairs at tables and desks. Start moving these and stack them in a line in the southwest and southeast corners of the area outside the central room, where the fight is going to take place, near the bottom of the stairs. You’ll need to move six chairs each. I didn’t test this with fewer chairs, but this is what worked for us. I recommend starting the fight to see where they spawn and then reloading.

Once the fight starts, most of the lesser demons will be locked out of the field behind a few desk chairs, and you can hammer down Mangoth while they run back and forth up and down the stairs. They have a ranged magic attack, but it’s nothing serious.
Let me know in the comments if you tried this trick!
